Cafe Hilbrantz is a unique restaurant with a rich history. The property dates back to 1691 and was originally a farm and brewery. The stable of the horses is now the main hall where celebrations and parties are organized. The brewery was a welcome addition to the inhabitants of the village, as beer was cheap and less germs than water at the time.

Over the years, the business was passed down from generation to generation and continued to serve as a beer brewery and farm. The Hilbrants family retained their social position in the village. Cornelis Hilbrants, Hilbrant's son, took over the company in the first half of the 18th century and was a man of prestige in the area. He was even part of the et chair, the predecessor of the current Court of Justice. After the occupation of Napoleon the municipality of Eelde was founded and from 1811 to 1896 the inn also served as town hall.

The current building was built in 1842 and now offers a unique combination of history and modern dining. Here you can enjoy deliciously prepared food in a beautiful setting with a rich history.
